![]() ![]() I'm pretty sure Vince DiCola could simply reuse his original midi files, and reuse the same synth patches and release them as a "re-recording", much the same way Jan Hammer re-recorded an entire disc of his Miami Vice music, which sounded 99% identical as he used the exact same equipment and midi files. ![]() Its not as though its a 300 piece orchestra, it is a one man synth band, and maybe some synth programmers alongside him. It is frankly ridiculous and downright pathetic that a synthesized score cannot be released due to "rights issues". Well it's been a year and I just sent another email to Perserverance.we shall see what response, if any, I get. Yes I emailed Perserverance Records over a year ago and they said they were trying to work out the licensing and all the legal mumbo jumbo for releasing DiCola's score for ROCKY IV. I think a complete Rocky box set would be a welcome addition to the Indiana Jones and Superman Box sets that were released last year. I wouldn't say it was too limited, it took I believe almost a year to sell the amount that was pressed.Ī third score track from Rocky IV called FAREWELL is on the B-side of the James Brown/Living In America 7" single.įair comment - and I secured mine in time so I have no reason to complain either to be honest! I would certainly be down for individual or box set releases of the complete original scores and songs for the series, in regards to part four though I believe Perservance Records was inquiring at one point for a license, don't know if anything has come of it though. Here's hoping for a similar "Rocky" set one day, hell yeah! but perhaps their hands were tied, I don't know. The only "mistake" they made with THAT release was that the Limited Edition total was a little *too* "limited". Varese would certainly be my preferred label to consider this too, as they laid down a pretty decent blueprint of course with the Karate Kid boxed set! I'd certainly be in for any form of "ROCKY Soundtrack Anthology" set - especially of course if there were bonus tracks and so on. ![]() I also love how DiCola and Jeremy Lubbock (who oversaw the orchestral portions of the score) quoted GONNA FLY NOW in the closing of the HEARTS ON FIRE montage. I prefer it over any of the Conti efforts. I'd buy that in a heartbeat (complete or not). ![]() The ones on the CD are too modified from the original movie versions.Īlso, diCola did excellent work on the Hearts On Fire song, great solos too! I'd rather have a complete version of "Rocky Balboa", allthough the new "gonna fly now" is easily available via the end credits on the dvd.ĭiCola used excellent sounds for the war and training versions in the movie. I hope a complete Rocky collection with all six movies will arrive (maybee from Varese-Club?) Yeah these two tracks are great, but heavily modified from the movieversion The two tracks that have been released ("War" and "Training Montage") kick some serious ass, as they say. If anyone can shed any light on a complete DiCola score of ROCKY IV that would be great!īTW, is there any address for Bill Conti that people have used so I can mail my Rocky inserts to be signed? I wish for a proper release of the complete Rocky Anthology Score via Varese. In addition to Bill Conti's music from Rocky I-III,V and Rocky Balboa I love DiCola's addition to the anthology.
